Extremely Slow

We have been having problems with slow times opening PWA on our intranet.
Once its open opening the project centre is a 3 minute wait. Going to
Resource centre can be worse. We are using MSP 2007. Slow system times has
catched away users from publishing thier projects to the server. Is this a
problem that others have seen? The IT department has contacted Microsoft
with no solutions. Any suggestions?

This could be a result of a multitude of issues. Typical scenarios include:-

Low spec servers
Over utilised servers - especially sql
Poorly configured SQL
Deep RBS structures with large volumes of users and projects
Installs Pre SP1 - DB optimisations included in SP1
Poor config - running other MOSS features such as index/search on the server
running project server.

etc
etc

Generally, Microsoft technical staff don't have a good understanding of
Project Server, even those in MCS. They need to ensure they speak with
either Premier Support or an EPM technical specialist.

One thing that I generally suggest with these kinds of symptoms is to
check the logs, both for what they say and how big they are. Had a
similar case to yours and it was log files taking up HD space and
processing cycles (verbose logging was on). This also happened on at
least one MOPS 2007 client we were helping out - same thing.

And Paul's correct (as usual), you need to get either Premier Support
or a Microsoft Partner looking at the issue.

Hope this helps,
