F7 Spellcheck

M

Michael

Hi,

I was making shortcut keys for applications on my desktop
and I accidentally used F7, which is the shortcut key in
Outlook and Word to check spelling. I deleted the shortcut
key on the desktop application, but now the F7 key doesn't
work in Outlook or Word. Does anyone know how I can fix
this?

Please respond to [email protected]

Thank you

In Word, try View | Toolbars | Customize | Commands | Keyboard |
Categories:=All Commands | Commands:=ToolsProofing

Ensure F7 is set as the Current Key.

I checked and F7 is still set as the current key. Do you
have any other suggestions?

TIA

Not really. It sounds as if this other app is still keeping it somehow. Have
you tried a detect and repair on Office?

Cool name by the way. I have a client here who we just upgraded from
Office 98 to 2000. Everything works 100% except for the spell check in
Outlook. We have it set to auto spell check before she sends a mail but
get an "Error completing spell check" alert box everytime. We have
resinstalled and tried repairing installation to no avail.

There is a better chance of getting Outlook Express questions answered if
you post to one of the Outlook Express newsgroups, such as:

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

Also, you can check out <http://www.tomsterdam.com/> for some good info on
Outlook Express.

That being said, I believe Outlook Express will use Office's proofing tools
if it's installed. You said you completely re-formatted your drive and after
rebuilding the machine, spell-check still wouldn't work? That seems strange.
In what language do you have Widows installed? If you have Office installed,
do you have the appropriate MUI pack installed for that language?

Try re-running Office 2000 setup to Add/Remove components. Make sure you
have the proofing tools selected.
