Can you tell us what you're doing when the first error occurs? With regard
to the second symptom you quote, this is likely a setup issue. You have a
bunch of setup work to do before you can start dragging Project Server web
parts in SharePoint pages.

I am trying to Connect to Sharepoint Server on the Project Server Admin
screen.

What parts of setup should I be checking into?

Here is some more information -

Connect to SharePoint server

Use this page to connect Project Server to a Web server running Windows
SharePoint Services. Click on Test URL to open a separate page displaying the
page content, and click on Save Changes to save your changes.

Enter information on the web server running Windows SharePoint Services
* SharePoint Central Administration URL: Test URL
(for example, https://servername:3456)
* Create a site under this SharePoint URL:
(for example, https://servername:443/sites)
SharePoint Extranet Address:
(for example, http://www.companyXYZ.com/projects)
http://exserver:80/sites/MS_ProjectServer_PublicDocuments

* indicates a required field.

Current WinHTTP proxy settings under

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\
SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections\
WinHttpSettings :

Flags = PROXY_TYPE_DIRECT | PROXY_TYPE_PROXY
Proxy Server = noproxyserver
Bypass List = <local>;ProjectServer;EXSERVER;exchange.freyandson.com

We have tried this with and without SSL.

There appears to be an issue in the event log noting that the Template
Persistant Cache initialization failed for Application Pool MSPS2003AppPool
beacuse the user could not create a Disk Cache Subdirectory for the
application Pool

How did you setup the WSS Service account that you specified during
installation? What permissions did you give this account?
