Failure to retain pop mail server id and user password

This issue started with Office XP Outlook, and has
persisted after the upgrade to Outlook 2003.

I am using Outlook as a pop client. The client
continually replaces my pop server id with "localhost"
from "pop.mail.yahoo.com". It then appends the pop
server id to the user account id when doing this, ie.
dw_brooks/pop.mail.yahoo.com. For awhile I was able to
go in and manually update this and successfully download
my email. Now it is having problems registering the
password I enter correctly and I am unable to pop my mail
off the mail server at all.

I have tried totally uninstalling and reinstalling both
Outlook and all of Office, but these settings and the
problems that go with them persist on re-install. Have
you any suggestions on how to do a thorough uninstall so
I can rid myself of this issue, or what registry/program
setting file I might change to correct this problem.
