Fancy email notification

Two questions:

1. Who's idea was it to change Outlook so that the
little notification that comes across your sceen when you
have a new email auotmatically disappears after 30
seconds?

2. How can I change this? I never want it to go away.
Then I can just glance at my sceen from across the office
and tell if I have an email.

1. Not mine

2. Tools, Options, Preferences, E-mail Options, Advanced E-mail Options,
Desktop Alert Settings for those of you that haven't found this setting yet.
As to keeping it there for more than 30 seconds... don't know, but it
doesn't look hopeful. Aren't you surprised that they don't have a setting
to make it 100% transparent? (-;

I don't get it. It's an alert...a notification. By the
time you make it transparent and have it go away it's a
bit like turning down the power on a lighthouse cause you
don't want it to be too obtrusive.

Some day when I've got an extra hour, I'll probably do
that. I'm really not sure what was wrong with the old
arrangement, or why the new one is limited to 30 seconds.
