Yeah, this virus attack is working all our nerves! Text below:

You should try to be more specific when you post. Your statement "some
revised assignment data" doesn't say very much. Could you be more specific?
If your revisions made dates change on assignments, then using the Publish
New and Changed Assignments function will push the changes to the web
interface. If your revisions didn't cause dates to change, you must use the
Republish feature.

Hi Gary,,

Yes sorry - your right - I should be more specific.

Here is the detail.

We installed the Project Server 2002 update (dated 20th August) earlier in
the week (Monday). We followed all the instructions to the letter.

However on Wednesday we started to notice some anomolies :-

Specifically this is what I am doing -
I change a task duration (shorten it) in a Project Plan from 10d to 4d.
There is one resource assigned to it (Bill) and the Resource Schedule
information in the plan shows the work as 32h (based on 8h per day). This is
also confirmed in Resource Usage.

Then I republish the assignments (Collaborate, Publish New & Changed
Assignments).

If I login to PWA, Go to the Resource Center, select Bill, and View Resource
Availability it shows him as not available for the entire ten days, not the
four days which is the new duration.

He is not assigned to any other task in any other project (this assignment
is his ONLY assignment in the whole of the Database).

In fact when we view resource availability for many other resources, it
shows the resource availability profile for the date prior to the date of
installation of the Project 2002 Update (e.g. Monday), even though
assignments in Project Plans have been published (and had a message to say
they have successfully done so).

Interestingly when I created a brand new project today, with one 20d task,
assigned Sam to it and then published both the Project (with summary), and
published the assignments the Project showed up in the Project Center view
with the correct duration (although the Date of Last Update field was
blank).

Then when I tried to drill down into a Project View for this project I
couldn't see the detail (got the message "This project hasn't been published
or you don't have permissions to view the project). In fact my permissions
are set to view all current and future projects in the database.

When I selected a older project - one created a few weeks ago, and which had
been modified yesterday with everything republished, I could view that in
the Project center view with the correct new duration (even though Date of
Last Update still showing last wednesday however). But when I drill down
into a Project view I see the status of the project as it was last Wednesday
!!

I don't know if it makes any difference but we are running Project 2002 on
Windows 2003 Server and we have a two server configuration (both Win2003
servers). And yes we did install the patch for Project 2002 Server to run
on Win2003.

So, after all that, do you have any suggestions ? I'd really appreciate
your input.

Thanks

Best Regards

Gary

Gary:

Can you tell me if you're seeing errors in the Application log and if so
what are they?
When was the last time your OLAP cube was built? How often is it set to
build? Any errors on that page?
Try selecting "No, I only want to update resource availability information"
and Update Now to force the availability data to be published. Let me know
what happens.
