fast searching disabled-- will not enable

Fast searching is disabled in office xp. Will not reenable. The fast
search engine will not install as well. Help...

Office XP no longer includes the older, separate 'Find Fast' search engine. The Fast Search feature of Office XP relies on the
Indexing feature of Windows as its base. The information here may be helpful in setting up or checking that the indexing service is
avaialble.
