Fast zoom or zoom telephoto lens

I have the Canon EOS20D. I need a very fast lens, approx 70-300 (am
flexible), but I need it to at f 1.4 or f 1.8. I am struggling do they exist?
Where can I get one?

That would be *incredibly* fast for a zoom..IF you find one it's likely to be *incredibly* expensive. I think the one Canon makes is 4.5.

Rob's correct... it would be several thousand dollars, assuming they
could make one like that, and the quality would probably vary greatly
through the zoom range.

It would probably also be as big as a Golden Retriever...

Yeppers...lots of glass needed to collect all that light.
It's be hard even with a prime lens..let alone a zoom.
