Fatal Error on Repair/Reinstall

I'm running Office Professional Edition 2003 with Windows XP Home Edition.
When I try to repair office or reinstall it, I get a fatal error OCE0000005
on setup. Can I remove Office then reinstall to fix this problem? What
happens to my emails in Outlook if I do this?

It is located at C:\Documents and Settings\<your Win XP account>\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.... by default.

It should be fine if you leave it though (but no promises!)
