I can not view some received faxes in Fax Console. What's up with that?
I'm using Office 2003,
Fax Console Ver 5.1 Build 2600.xpsp_sp2gdr.050301-1519:service pack 2)
MS Office Document Imaging Ver 11.0.1897.0

Please help, and Thanks

go to services in admin tools
and turn on the "fax" service.

afterwards, you can double
click the fax printer and
see the fax console where
you in and outs are listed.

keep in mind that if you
have one modem the it is likely
used for faxing and interneting, you
may have to keep the fax service
disabled while internetting.

also, as a tip, you should move or
copy those faxes from their default
folder into a special one, like
My Faxes. It has been my experience
to surprisingly find the default boxes
emptied.

I'm not sure you fully understand my problem. I have been getting faxes
since last October so, I'm familiar with the Fax console. I also have high
speed internet so that has nothing to do with the modem.

I am having problems with opening/viewing SOME faxes. Actually the ones I
can not view have been from the same sender. HOWEVER, most of the time I CAN
view them from this sender.

So it's hit and miss here.

Maybe I'll use your advice and move most of the faxes out of the default
folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application
Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSFax\Inbox

yeh, moving the ones you have into
a safe place is a good idea. The synctoy
can help with this as well.

in regards to those hit n miss, the
problem is likely occurring on the
other end;

could be a noisy or unstable line,

could be with handshaking,

could be low resources and
the transmittals are being sent
scrambled to you.

could be modem settings.

in either case, it's likely that
the sender would get an
"unsuccessful transmission" message;
keeping in mind that the sender's pc
would have to convert the documents
in their entirity on their pc before the
sending would take place.

or the sender can be pulling your
leg and actually sending you
empty or scramble documents as a joke....

Have you contacted the sender to have the problem ones resent? Perhaps
it's a transmission issue, or something the sender is doing.
