faxing without attachment

is it possible to send a fax thru outlook 2000 without
attaching a document? in other words, can i put my
message in the "body" -- as if i was emailing someone?

lol, does this make any sense?

Yes. The method depends on which fax software you are using, which you would
need to post.

Not really. It was the version installed only with IMO mode that was
abandoned instantly because it didn't work. Nevertheless it supported
sending fax messages from Outlook's New Message window. What makes you think
it doesn't?

well, after i type the message in the window, i hit send
and NOTHING happens -- my modem doesn't dial, nothing.
now, if i attach any doc to the message, it sends fine. i
thought i could just include text in the window without
attaching anything, and fax it.

As I recall you must have a coverpage enabled with WFSE. Without it, Outlook
has nothing on which to place the message.

I always use OL XP fax without attachment and without cover page. If
the fax account is installed on your OL XP then just make sure there
are no images in your html and then before clicking "send" make sure
you click on Accounts and scroll to Fax Service.

At this point immediately Fax Sending dialogue box should appear and
dial sound and send progress displayed. If not, then goto Control
Panel>Printers & Fax and reinstall your fax service.

Not relevant. Don't confuse things. Read the post. Outlook 2000/IMO with
WinFax Starter edition.
Outlok XP is not in play, nor is there any such thing as Outlook XP Fax.
