Feature request: files in Saved Attachments saved read-only

This applies to all versions of Entourage (and even Outlook Express).

At present Entourage saves attached files in the Saved Attachments folder and double-clicking the attached file opens the file from that folder. But if a user makes any changes and saves and closes that file, the changes will be lost the next time the user opens the attached file from her email.

I understand why this happens, but it is very frustrating for staff when this bites them. Please implement some way of preventing an attached file being edited. Perhaps files in Saved Attachments could be marked read-only by default. This would force any external editor (such as Microsoft Word) to prompt the user to save a new document if the user makes changes.

You would make the world a happier place!

Hi Ed,

The Send Feedback feature in Entourage takes you to the broken feedback form... I guess I should find an appropriate part of the Entourage blog or newsgroup to hassle.

This newsgroup and the blog are not part of Microsoft.

Thanks Ed for checking the submission form works. I have gone back and submitted my request via that form and it worked fine. Just a temporary break in service I guess.

I'm glad it finally worked for you.
