Features of MS Project 2003

Lars Schulze

Hello,

My Name is Lars Schulze and I am a student, who had to compare
different Project Management Systems for a company.

I have some questions about the new MS Project

1. Are there more Database Servers supported than MS SQL Server?
Especially Oracle?
2. Is there a limitation in the number of projects? In former versions
of the program was a limitation to 80 projects.
3. Is it possible to give projects different priorities? And can
Project 2003 use these priorities if there is a resource conflict
between 2 or more projects to handle the resources?

Thank you for your trouble.

1. Not sure, hopefully someone else will answer
2. Not sure on the exact number (again someone else is
likely to know and answer soon) but it is certainly more a
lot more than 80
3. You can give projects different priorities. In 2002
was a mark between 0-1000 (higher number = higher
priority) and assume its the same in 2003. As far as I
know this is used to resolve conflicts of resources with
higher priority projects taking preference.

Hope someone else provides you with more info later.

Hi,

Any ODBC database can be used to store any number of projects. Only SQL
Server can be used however, for Project Server. Project Priorities are used
when using Levelling.

You say you can do project based priorities in 2002 and
2003. Are you sure you can do it at a project level? I
thought this was only true at a task level?

Thanks.
