few questions re html email

Hi,

I want to design some email stationery for a couple different
purposes. One is as a prize for a charity photo comp we sponsored - I
want to offer the winner an email stationery with the winning photo on
it and the logo of the tournament.

I also need to do an email that will contain a graphic design but no
photos, in otherwords more of a regular stationery sort of a thing but
with graphics that would make it bigger file size.

I will probably put a few posts up here as I figure things out, but
first things first.

Is the best way to do this by doing html email, with images served up
from our website?

If I understand correctly, if you just design an email and save it to
the stationery folder, it is not the most effective way to do it?

We have IE6.0, for the moment I suppose the thing to work out is am I
on the right track with these assumptions. I notice a lot of the
estationery companies just design them in Outlook and you download the
file into the default stationery folder, so I suppose I am just
confused which way to do it.

Many thanks in advance for shedding some light :)

Cheers,
Lauren
