File Attachment Issue

When attaching a Word 97 document to an Outlook 2002 note via the File | Send
To... | Mail recipient option, the file extension is changed from .doc to
..ans.

Any reason why this is happening? The file being attached is a normal Word
97 document.

Thank you.

What happens if you just drag the Word document to the Outlook Compose
window?

I haven't done it exactly that way, but doing Insert | File... directly from
Outlook works as it should.

It's like the action of "sending" the file to a mail recipient is being
corrupt. ??

It does use a different code path within Outlook that doesn't contain all
the same options and settings that Outlook itself has. For example, if you
have the option to save copies of sent messages disabled, using the SendTo
function bypasses that option and always creates a copy of the sent message.
Moreover you said you're using Word 97 with Outlook 2002. Unless the
versions of Word and Outlook match, the integration between the two programs
is broken. All bets are off.
