File corruption

A

Ange

Anyone experienced problems with MS project corrupting
files when you save and know how to resolve it?

The problem manifests in three ways:

-When you save the project and then open it again, task
descriptions are deleted and often replaced with garbage.
-When you save the project and then open it again, it says
that you have exceeded the number of rows allowed in a
project (file was orginally about 135 rows).
--When you save the project and then open it again, it
says that you have made an incorrect link between tasks.
When you investigate, the said task is hidded as well as a
few other rows and there is no way to 'unhide' it nor
delete it.

-Problem continues to occur even though I have:
-Upgraded from 2000-2002.
-Change PCs, fresh install of 2003.
-Run detect and repair on project.
-Re-installed project.

Any help would be invaulable.
Kind regards
Ange

Hi Ange,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

I have no words of wisdom on why corruption occurs :-( It just does
occasionally, hence the need for frequent backups. I have no advice to
offer other than that in FAQ Item: 43. File Bloat? - Might be Corruption.

Next time, try posting on the project newsgroup, as this one is closing
down! Please see FAQ Item: 24. Project Newsgroups.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://www.mvps.org/project/.

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on:)
