Hi

how can i know who has a non-shared workbook open.
The Notify message show me the right username, but when i open the workbook with VBA, (ReadOnly:=True) the writereservedby property return's my own username
In resume, where can i find the username that the Notify message use ?
I'm using Excel 2000 SR-1 in a Windows 2000 networ

Not really sure what you are asking as the Notify message tells you already?

The name/id you are getting is presumably the Login id.

what Excel tells me in msgbox with a caption "File in use by" is a the "Excel username", because the network login id is a different one. The thing is to "capture" in VBA the contents of the Excel Notify msgbox. I'm going to trie a WinAPI way... change the text of the "@"#4#$%" msgbox...
