I recently moved my Word97 from a Windows 98 operating
system to a Windows 2000 Server platform. This problem
did not exist on the old platform, so I suspect it is
platform related.
I have associated a number of file extensions for various
text files to be opened in Word. When I double-click or
use the right mouse click and select "Open" on these
files, I get a "File in Use" message. If I
select "Cancel", I am able to make my modifications and
save it as normal. This doesn't happen if I double-click
on a .doc file, or do a right mouse click and
select "Edit" on any text file associated with Word. It's
not a major problem, but it is annoying.
