How to change the default location FrontPage uses to store your web sites:
Info, links to more info and also a download that will make the tweak for you.

No need to change anything - the OP's already in "my webs" it is the
dfference between XP/2000 user profiles and Window 9x and the way they store
and setup documents.

It same thing - you're already in the folder you want to be

" c:/documentand setting/brian/mydocuments/myweb" is the "My Documents/My
Web" in your user profile (whatever you're logged in as) - sounds like
you're using Windows XP or Win 2000, and it sets up a separate My Documents
for each user you must be used to Windows 9x where although they can have
different users, generally they are a single user system and the general
location of My documents etc is C:\my documents.

So if you have three users they'd all have their own "my documents" and "my
webs" folder

eg

c:\documents and settings\joe bloggs\my documents\my webs
c:\documents and settings\bill bloggs\mydocuments\my webs

etc

So you're in the My Documents/My Webs folder as it is - no need to change
anything.

Correct. However, the poster wants to change the file path to eliminate the %UserProfile% aka the
default used by FP on a 2K / XP machine.

Many people change the path to a different location, even including a different drive and or
partition. Myself included.

Thanks for all your contibutions.

I'm trying to eliminate the "%UserProfile%", but when I compared the same
file in C:/mydocuments... etc and c:/documents and settings/mydocument... etc
There are not identical.
Any views.

If you have already started / created a web in c:/documents and settings/mydocument... etc
you will have to copy the web folder to C:/mydocuments

Changing the location via the method I showed you does *not* automatically move any existing files.
