File menu will not open in Word 2k

When I click on the file menu in Word 2k, it will not open. However, I can
open all of the remaining menus. Any ideas are appreciated!

In Word, click on Tools | Customize | Toolbars tab | Menu Bar |
Reset. If the this doesn't fix the problem, then maybe you have
a corrupt registry key, and you should follow the instructions at
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm .
