"File" missing

I have lost the File menu in word xp I have the Edit,
View etc but no FILE menu. They are all there in the
other Office programs but not in word.

Graham,

Try View>Toolbars>Customize>Commands Tab. In the categories window, select
built-in menus. In the commands window, select File. Drag and drop File on
your menu bar.
