file <name> is not available

Tom

I am running Office XP. I upgraded from Windows 98 to
Windows XP.

When I try to open an existing Word doc I get the
message "file <name> is not available". I can save Word
docs, but then they also become unavailable. I tried to
Repair Office XP from my installation CD but still get
the "file <name> is not available". I am having a
similar problem with Excel files. Outlook opens my
outlook.pst file just fine.

See "OFF: Cannot Open Office Documents or Cannot Edit Inserted Objects After
You Install Office XP Service Pack 2 or Office 2000 Service Pack 3" at

You don't actually have to uninstall NAV, just disable the Office Plug-in.
