File "..." not available

Yesterday one of my employees "did something" and now
cannot open any Word or Excel documents on her hard drive
or on the network. It gives a yellow exclamation point
error and says "File "..." not available. When we close
the Word program another error appears..."The file Normal
already exists. Do you want to replace the existing
file?" Does anyone know what causes this?
