File not found - root cause for that message?

Hello,

I have found the number of projects with the issue "file not found" is
increasing. I know that caused by a corrupted VBA stream within the project
file. I also know how to fix by saving the project as an XML file and then
reopening in Project. It is not only that solving it is quite annoying. With
recreating the project all UIDs in the database are changed of course and
reports connecting timesheet and project data don't work for the past.

In my cases I am talking about PS2007 with SP2, but reading blogs and
discussion groups it seems to be an issue since project 98 regardless of
project server or local installations.

I am interested what is causing that issue and if there is any possibility
to avoid it.

Any ideas are really appreciated.

Barbara:

If this is rampant in your enterprise, it would indicate that the VBA stream
is corrupt in the Enterprise global, the cure for which is very different
than acting on the local files. Of course, you simply can't do this when
using timesheets, otherwise you disconnect the data. See my blog post on
this to determine whether this is your issue:

Gary,

thanks for your response. I knew your blog post and was glad to be able to
eliminate that reason. Timesheets are extensively used.

Today I had the fifth case on that, the second time for one user. I will now
investigate his installation and his way of working.

I will update this post when I know more.

Best regards
Barbara
