File Not Saved

I am saving a file over a network onto the server. If the file has been
created from another machine I can not overwrite the file with my changes. A
temporary file is automatically created instead. This only appears to happen
from one machine. I can pick the file up and edit it from other machines.
Word files are OK.

Any suggestions please.

This sounds more like a "rights" or "permissions" issue to me than an Excel
issue. I would suggest you see your MIS people about it.

i dont think it is a permissions problem as i can sign on under another name
which works fine elsewhere and the same thing happens on this particular
machine. Am i missing anything on the machine settings for Excel

From Publisher 2003 Help.............

Export text
Although you cannot export directly from Microsoft Publisher, you can cut and
paste all or part of the text in a publication to a document in another
application. You can also save the publication in a different file format to
use in the other application.

On the File menu, click Save As.
In the File name box, type a name for the text.
In the Save as type box, click the file format used by the other program.
If you don't know the format, click either Rich Text Format or Plain Text.

Click Save.
Open the program and document to which you want to add the text.
Add the text you've saved by using the Insert Text, Import Text, Insert File,
or Open command of the program.

Unfortunately, Excel is not one of the file formats so go with the copy and
paste or save as a *.txt file and open that with Excel.

Maybe an Excel "Version" issue?
Or maybe it still could be the "access" from that computer, regardless of
login, could be Read-only for that File/Directory...........other files in
that directory work ok?
