Office XP Pro (fully patched), Windows XP fully patched. In the last 2 weeks
in Word and Excel the File Open dialog box won'tchange its view. The user
prefers the 'details' view. The applications are stuck in the Large Icons
view even though the drop down control says that 'details' is selected. The
weird part is Publisher and PowerPoint work as they should.
The system also has Adobe Indesign CS2, Acrobat Pro, Goldmine, Trados
(language tranlation software).
I have done a repair install of Office and a complete uninstall and
re-install with no change in the result.
I've looked in the registry to see if there's some obvious setting that's
keeping the view from changing - no luck.
Is there some setting somewhere that prevents the user from changing the
view in the file open dialog?
I've done google searches using "Office XP" or 2002 "file open" without any
luck.
