File permission error

Marcia

I have Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003. I just recently
have encountered the following problem:

When I try to save a word document to my thumb drive, I get the message
"Word cannot complete the save due to file permission error". Anyone have
any idea how I can resolve this issue?

Thanks.

I tried the copy/paste - did not work. How do I "send" a file to a flash
drive?

Are you right-clicking the file in Windows Explorer (My Computer) and
choosing Copy, then right-clicking on the icon for your flash drive and
choosing Paste? That should work. You can use Send only if the flash drive
in on the Send menu. You can add it by putting a shortcut to it in
C:\Documents and Settings\<ProfileName>\SendTo.

I tried right-clicking the file, choosing copy, right-clicking on the icon
for my flash drive, and pasting. The message I got was "Cannot copy <file
name>. The directory or file cannot be created." As for adding it to the
send menu, two questions, (1) how do I get to "C:\Documents and
Settings\<Profile Name>\Send to"? and (2) what is the profile name? my thumb
drive?
I do appreciate your trying to help me.

You get to "C:\Documents and Settings\<Profile Name>\Send to" by navigating
there in the Folders pane of My Computer. "Profile Name" is the name of your
profile. For example, on my system, the path is C:\Documents and
Settings\Suzanne\Send to.

Can you drag the file from its Word folder to the flash drive? That's
usually the easiest way to copy files in My Computer.
