file security

We are going to have guests in our home over the holidays, and they will be
using our computer occasionally. I have some files that I do not want
deleted or changed. In some cases I do not want them opened.

There are too many to password protect each file...
Can I password protect a whole folder and then put files in the folder I
want protected?
If so, how do I do it?

thanx

Hi,

This particular newsgroup deals with general questions concerning the Microsoft database product
called Access which is part of the Office family product line.

I would suggest re-posting this question to a newsgroup dealing with your particular operating
system. The experts there could then provide several courses of action to help protect your
sensitive files. Look for newsgroups like:

microsoft.public.win2000.general
microsoft.public.win95.generaldiscussion
microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion
microsoft.public.windowsme.general
microsoft.public.windowsnt.misc
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

A thought occurs to me concerning your problem. Why not wrap up your computer system and put in
under the tree to look like a present? Put a sign on it that says, "Open after the new year." The
guests should be gone by then.

The answer to your question is yes. However the metheods will vary depending
on the version of windows you have.

You would be much better off ask this questions in one of the newsgroups
pertaining to your version of windows. You are much more likely to get a
pertanent answer. This news group is devoted to Microsoft Access, the
database application.
