File won't load at startup

Using Excel 2007, when I dbl-click a file, Excel will launch, but won't
display the file until I click on the Explorer window the file is in. Even
then, I sometimes have to click on Excel to reset the focus on Excel, before
the file will display.

Happens with .xls and .xlsx files.

Suggestions?

Nick,

Thanks, but it was already un-checked. Any other ideas? I have no idea why
it wouldn't automatically show the file, as I installed following all default
settings.

Thanks,

Duane

You could try looking for personal.xls, book.xlt, sheet.xlt or *.xlb files
(Some may be hidden so include this option in your search. If you find any
you should move them from there current location and see if Excel starts ok.
If so add one back at a time. If it is book.xlt or sheet.xlt or personal.xls
then just upgrade these to the new 2007 format. if it is *.xlb just delete
it as this is not necessary with 2007 (If you still have earlier versions
all toolbar customisations will be lost)

Nick,

Wellll, I found a couple of Excel*.xlb files, and re-named them. Opened
Excel, with the same result. When Excel closed, it created another
Excel2.xlb file.

(None of the other files existed.)

Hoping there is a solution for this Excel hangup (anybody at Microsoft
reading this???). It doesn't even have an error window to report to
Microsoft.

Thanks,

Duane

No add-ins checked.

As soon as I hit the Excel button, the spreadsheet loaded. Does that help
narrow it down?

Thanks,
