Everytime I open an existing MS Office file, I get an error
"FileError_22001". I also get this same error when I try to create a new
document. It happens on Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents. Does anyone
know how to fix this?

Since the weekend, I also have this same problem. All of my word an
excel files have this error as their content and the author has been se
to yani! I suspect this is a virus and have scanned with Mcafee ab
Trend Home call but neither can find anything and none of the viru
companies seem to know about a virus that does this! Any help or advic
would be great!

This problem started with me on Sunday, November 30. Almost all of m
excel files and winword files say FileError_22001 when I attempt to ope
them. I fear I've lost many very important files. I'm hoping someon
might know how I can get my files back. At the same time I've bee
infected with WinWeb Security which both SuperAntiSpyware and PC Tool
Spyware Doctor have failed to remove. I suspect the process on m
computer called 501AFB7E.exe is the culprit but I've found NO referenc
to that file name. If there anyone who can help me

P.S. I was using MS Office 2003. I tried uninstalling then re-installing
with no luck. I also uninstalled all of the add-in's for MS Office before
doing the re-install. I upgraded to MS Office 2007, again no luck. I pulled
one of each Word, Excel and Powerpoint corrupted files off of this computer
via USB drive and tried opening them on another computer, no luck. I did the
reverse, pulled good files off of another computer and moved them over to
this computer and they worked just fine. I ran multiple virus scans, checked
the registry and compared files, no luck. I did however notice that the
author and last saved by was "Yani". I also noticed this took place at the
exact same time (Nov. 26, 2008 at 8:39am) for all of the files. It's all
interesting to note that my computer was not powered on at that paticular
point. Did various searches for any information regarding this error and
couldn't find anything. Any insight would be helpful.

'ELP! I had a fault with my HD. Fixed by a specialist and it now work
OK _except_ that having (re) loaded my Office 2003, any attempt t
access/display any of my archive WORD documents or pictures results i
the above error message. The documents are still there - I can see 'e
listed on screen - but I can't access! Suspect this is connected wit
similar reports from other users here. Anyone got any bright idea
before the men in white coats come to take me away??? Despite the fac
that the HD has just been cleaned, I have run 'SpyDoctor' and 'AVG8' an
neither has picked up anything

Noticed this virus on Dec 1st but Word documents were changed on 2
November by Yani. I wasn't on-line that day so I assume the viru
arrived earlier and waited for the 26th. The contents of the files hav
been moved to 2 directories CDD and FLR on the C: drive under Docs an
settings/user name/Applications. All the Word docs, Excels and JPGs ar
there as .fcd files which are normally some kind of CAD files. You ca
identify some of the words but there is no format info to help re-creat
them. I tried ISObuster which is usually OK but no luck. Eventually
deleted the office suite (Word, Excel and Powerpoint), deleted al
corrupted images. Used search on Yani to find all the Excel and Wor
docs and deleted the lot. Then re-installed the office suite. Proble
seems to be fixed.
Has anyone found a restore solution? or any info on where this may hav
come from

before I could run a full scan. Lost tons o stuff - I see the files as
well, but cannot open. Anyone, anything?

New imformation on FileError_22001. I have been looking deeper into
this error and still haven't found a way to fix it. I did however
notice that all of my infected files (.jpeg, .doc, .xls, etc.) were
located on my desktop. Files that I've stored in folders not located
on the desktop (the same type of files I listed above, .jpeg, .doc,
..xls, etc.) work just fine. Give this a try and see how you make out.
If this works for you as well, I would highly recommend backing those
files up immediately. I don't know if these files will eventually
become infected so by playing it safe and backing them up, you help
preserve at least some of your information. Hope this helps save some
of you some headaches.

New imformation on FileError_22001

One of our sales people had the same problem, after checking the details on
all of his .XLS, .DOC, and .JPG, I found that all of the files were now the
same size and had the same date and time stamp. It almost appears that each
of the files was overwritten by a file containing the FileError_22001
message. I dont have the skill level to check it closer but I did a search
for hidden files and other file with same name but a different extension and
had no luck with that either.
We tried the following:
Moved the files to a clean drive
Tried a new version of office
Tried viewing the files thru a groupwise email converter.

Although this might not be helpful, seeing as though I have lost 100's of
hours of work and photographs I will never recover. This is the straw that
has broken the proverbial Camel's back. I will be reformatting my PC and
installing Ubuntu. The lack of comment by M$ confirms my decision. They seem
so much like the Financial Industry right now and the political machinery in
this democracy, (See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil and deny any
involvement). Unfortunately the virus broke on Black Monday (well known for
targeting online shoppers... go figure?)..Well fortunately I dont do any
shopping online so I hope that you will all be safe from the credit card
fraud out there.

Cheers M$ can I get a refund for all the money spent on your crappy OS and
apps ? Also should I lose info is it my fault (efs was enabled) or should I
just wait for Windows 7 ? The most secure platform ever after 3.11?

It would be far better to give the URL rather than link a download. This is a
Russian web site.

You are asking folks to download a file on faith... Not good.
