files with no extension

I wasn't sure where to post this, but here goes.

I've noticed that Excel sometimes will save a file with no extension and
some wierd alphanumeric name. I think this normally occurs when there is
some kind of sharing violation or interruption of an autosave

When I get around to housekeeping of my electronic files, I have to hunt for
them manually. I can't find a way to use the XP search tool to isolate these
files, because it doesn't seem to recognize that it is possible to have a
file with NO file extension.

Anyone have a good way to find and delete these things?

I have a file/directory search routine on my download page which yo
could adapt to only display files with no extension (by not displayin
those that contain a dot)
