Fill Handle - Diagonal Move?

In previous versions of Excel, I was able to use the fill handle of a
cell to move down and to the right at the same time. In Excel 2003,
the fill handle is constrained to one direction at a time - so to fill
in a box of cells, I need to first move down, let go of the fill
handle, grab it again, and THEN move to the right.

It doesn't seem like it should be a big deal, but of course since this
is something I do freqently, it's starting to get irritating.

Any ideas on how I can restore the old behavior?

I just tested.

In Excel 97, 2000, 2002 and 2003 it is either downwards or sideways, not
both.
