Filter for only some work hours on tasks

Hello!
I'm trying to create a filter or field (whatever does the trick) to do the
following:

I have a schedule that runs from June 2008 to June 2010. I need to capture
Work for (our) fiscal year 2009 - so the date range would be 12/1/08 -
11/30/09. My problem is when I filter for that Date Range I still get all of
the work assigned to those tasks. I would like for Project to ignore the work
done outside of the FY2009 dates, eg: if a task runs from 10/1/08 - 3/31/09,
I want to see Work hours assigned on this task only from 12/1/08 - 3/31/09
and ignore the work done from 10/1/08 - 11/30/08.

Can I build a filter or formula to do this? Or is a macro needed?
Please help.
Thank you!
Jennifer

It's not clear whether you want to identify the work done in your fiscal
year at the task level or at the project level.

In order to identify the work done in the interval you are interested
in, then I suggest you add the "Cumulative Work" field to the Task Usage
view (right-click on the time-phased part of the display and add the
field from the "Available fields" box). Then the work done in in an
arbitrary period can be easily obtained by a single subtraction.

You can additionally make Project display the data in years that
correspond to your fiscal years (Tools/Options/Calendar then select
fiscal year starts in December and tick "use starting year for FY
numbering"). Then by choosing the tiers in the timescale at the top of
the view to display years only, the data you require is available
immediately.

Thanks Dave!
I was able to get what I need by getting into the Task Usage view and
reconfiguring my Time Scale. Awesome! Thanks!
