Filter the Enterprise Resource Pool

my manager is bothered by having to sift through the many resources within
the enterprise resource pool to make a selection. i've noticed you can apply
a filter that uses outline codes. i've never used outline codes before. i
would simply like to add info to each resource stating which project they are
working on, then filter the pool. is this possible? how should i progress?

You have to first ask yourself how you want to filter the resource or
based on what criteria. And how do you classifield your resources(EG :
by department, skills etc)

Your idea isn't very feasible because you have to then keep track of
what projects the resource is working on and which has been completed
and then you have to constantly update the custom field.

Depend on how your resource is used, one suggestion will be to use RBS
to filter.

Jonathan is correct in his suggestion to use the RBS. You will have to define
the RBS according to your organization model. This will allow you to set your
View permissions so that only resources in an organization can be used by the
designated resource owner(s).

The correct use of the RBS removes the need to identify resources against
specific projects which is an administrative nightmare.

Jonathan & Rick,

Thanks for your feedback and advice. I'll start looking in to creating an
RBS for our org. haven't done this in the past, so hopefully all will go
smooth (yeah, right).

Thanks again,
Smitty
