filtering

Hello Everybody,

Jon thanks for ur last post (u seem to be answering all my questions!)
very helpful.

I was hoping somebody could tell me how do I create a filter that picks
up tasks which are at a certain level in the organisational tree. By
that I mean I do not want to show tasks which are sub tasks.
One way of doing this is to collapse all the tasks, that is no good
because you get a plus sign next to the tasks which doesn;t look good
when it is printed out.

ANy ideas?

Thanks

Hi Newby,

You can create a filter as follows:

Project > Filtered For... More Filters, New.
Give the filter a name of your liking. Select Show in Menu.

Field: Outline Level
Test: Equals
Value: number representing what outline level you wish to view.

Do not select "Show related summary rows".

Click OK. Click Apply.

You may also hide the plus and minus marks next to summary tasks by
Tools > Options, View tab and deselect "Show Outline sumbol"

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

hi,
thanks, that helped but I don't think I am doing the right thing
because when I choose to filter all the tasks with outline code equal
to one, none of the tosks show up!
What is the code format I should put into the filter?

thanks

Hi Newby,

The filter is based upon the Outline Level field, not Outline Code.

As a quick check - insert the Outline Level field into a table (Insert >
Column). If you have indented all of the tasks (trying to create the
effect with the Project Summary task), it is possible that only one task
shows up at Outline Level 1.

If you choose Outline Level 1 on the Show button on the Formatting
Toolbar what do you see?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
