find and replace dialog box

when i click find blank boxes flash across the screen and no dialog box
appears. Hence find and replace doesn't work. I've tried reinstalling word,
office and even the video drivers. the problem appears to only be word and
not other office products. any ideas???

i've tried that. I've disabled nav and it did not resolve the issue. Same
type of problem with spell. The dialog bog disappears. Any other ideas?
