I was handed a list of names in a table column to be used
in a mail merge. There is, for some reason, a space
before each of the first names which I would like to
remove without removing the spaces before the middle and
last names. I've got a feeling this involves that BUT
NOT that so often throws me. Please help.

I'm sure you've already visualized the situation, but an
example is:

<sp>John<sp>J.<sp>Smith or
<sp>John<sp>James<sp>Smith

Maria,

Select all of the text in the column. Right or center align and then left
align again. This should clear up the leading spaces.
