Find command not working FP2003

The Find and the Find/Replace Commands are not working in Frontpage2003. Can
someone help? Is this due to SP2? I have already allowed the exception in the
Windows firewall, still the Find Command will not work in both HTML view and
page view. Thanks!

Make sure you have a web open and then a page, instead of just a page.

I don't see what SP2 would have to do with this....Find & Replace is an
*internal* function of FRontpage - and hardly a security risk (???).

The web is open, then the page is open. I've tried both Ctrl F as well as the
Edit/Find. I have my cursor placed in the document when I do this. Any
answers? Or do I need to remove the software and then reload? Thanks!

What are you trying to search for and what options are you selecting?

For instance, I am highlighting the word "Reducing" in the HTML view, and I
want to replace it with "Decreasing" on the page, and hopefully, the whole
web. I click "Edit" then "Find" and the top of my window ( which is normally
blue) turns grey, but the window for the Find command does not show. It works
fine in my other Office programs, just not on FrontPage.

Try trying in the word that you want to find in the find dialog, then select search in HTML / Code
View.

Not all FP functions work like similar functions in other Office application.

It sounds like the dialog box is opening off screen.

Try this, courtesy of Jack Brewster:
- Open FP
- Open the Find dialog ("Edit | Find" or "Ctrl+F")
- The dialog won't be visible, but it should have the focus
- Press "Alt+Space"
- Press "M" to activate the Move function of the window.
- The mouse cursor focus will switch to the title bar of the Find dialog.
- Without moving the mouse first (important!) click and hold the left mouse
button (assumes you're using right-handed mouse) and move the mouse until
the dialog is in a good spot then let go of the button. If you move the
mouse before clicking, or if you accidentally let go before you see the
dialog, start over.

That's what I thought was happening, but when I minimize the FP window,
nothing else is showing.

Kathleen,
That did it! This is my laptop, and when I'm at work, I extend the screen to
another monitor. But when at home, I am not extending the monitor - that is
why it was hidden! Common sense rules again. Thank you and have a wonderful
day!
