Find in Outlook 2002 goes off into a loop/Freeze

Hi

I am having a problem with outlook 2002 SPack 2

When I choose "tools" and "find", enter something in the "look for"
field and click "find now". Outlook starts the animation of the little
magnified glass and never stops. if I click "Stop" it doesn't do
anything. i have left it for up to 40 minutes and it still is going.
The only way to stop the search is by clicking on the X to close the
search window (and then you don't get your results).

This happens about for 70% of all find/searches. If I go onto work
offline disconnected from the server the search is much faster but it
still does this around 30% of the time.

Can anyone help me??
