find radius from chord length

How do I find the radius of a circle knowing the the length of a chord?
Is there additional info needed to calculate the radius?

Thanx.

Kim,

You also need to know theta, the central angle that the chord subtends. All
you can say about the radius without theta is that it is greater than or
equal to the length of the chord/2.

if i have the length of the chord and the distance from the chord to th
arc, can i do something like (c^2 + 4*h^2)/8*h where
c= chord length
h= distance between chord and ar

Kim,

As long as the distance from the chord to the arc is along a radius and
normal to the chord, yes, you have the correct formula.
