finding a lost word document

I have created a word document and saved it but can't locate where I have put
it. How can I locate the document quickly?

Search. How specifically to do that will depend a bit upon what OS
you're using and what search tools you might have installed. Vista has
Windows Desktop Search already installed - hit the start button and type
the name of your document in the search box.

If you have Office 2007 installed you may have also installed Windows
Desktop Search.

Do you maybe have Google or Copernic Desktop Search installed and you
could use those?

If not, go to My Computer and click the Search button on the toolbar;
that will just take longer.

1. Check where Microsoft Word defaults to for saving files:
Tools | Options | File Locations > Documents.

2. Use the Search feature in Windows Explorer.
Search for the filename or words in the file.
Start the search in the root directory and search subfolders.
This will take longer than starting in a folder that might
contain the file but it should eventually find your file.
Check appropriate network folders if you're working on a network.
