Finding discrete/unique values

Not sure if 'discrete' is even the right term, but here's what I need to do:

I have a list of values in column A, such as:

Blue
Blue
Blue
Green
Green
Red
Red
Red
etc...

I need a method whereby Excel extracts, and places in another column, only
the first - or single - occurence of each value:

Blue
Green
Red

I can get around in Excel, but am no guru. Any and all suggestions much
appreciated!

Use data>filter>advanced filter,
copy to another location and unique records only
