Finding previously used ID numbers

next ID number in sequence (i.e., 4) which should stay
blank until I enter the new name. Instead, it returns the
name of the previous cell (in this case â?oMaryâ?). I
assume LOOKUP requires a matrix in numerical order.

How do I create such a matrix directly from data I

enter? Is there an easier way to accomplish this task?
