finding the program

I have MS Office 97 installed but it does not appear in
the programs list and there is no icon on the desk top.
How do I find the program to start it.
I have reinstalled hoping that would solve the problem,
but to no avail.

Search for winword.exe. Right-click on the file, choose Create Shortcut,
then drag the shortcut to the desktop.

Use Windows Explorer or My Computer to search for the WINWORD.EXE file. If
it's on your hard drive, then you're just missing the shortcut on your
desktop, which you can recreate by:

1. Right-click the Windows desktop, point to New on the shortcut menu
that appears, and then click Shortcut.
2. In the Create Shortcut dialog box, click Browse.
3. In the Browse dialog box, change the Look in box to the following
folder:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office

Note This location of this folder may be different on your system.
4. Click the Winword.exe file, and then click Open.
5. The path that is listed in the Command line box should look similar to
the following:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Winword.exe"
6. In the Create Shortcut dialog box, click Next.
7. In the Select a name for the shortcut box, type the name of your new
shortcut, and then click Finish.
