First Name Extraction

I have a group of names like this:

Brown, Joe D.
Smith, Thomas
Black, Susan E
White, Lisa
Green, Chad T.

I can extract out the last name in a separate column, I am
having a problem extracting out the first name (in another
column) with out the middle initial. Any help would be
sooooo appreciated.
