first time user- help!

i am trying to update a database. every time i make changes the entire
database disappears and I can't seem to get it back. I have no tool bars. I
can not reset any permissions. Sometimes the changes take and other times it
tells me the file is read only. When I check the properties box nothing is
checked.

Please help. My job depends on it.

Hi Monica,

You could check that your database isn't being opened by another user while
you are attempting to update it. You could also try creating a new blank
database and importing all the objects from your one that is going mental...

First though, you should try a compact and repair on the database.
