FIX: HTTP Connection Resets Session ID of an ASP Session Object

hello,

Currently the setup of the http connection to the Analysis
server is successful. However, I am having reset of
session id problem, hence, all my session variables are
gone whenever the http connection is made from the web
browser. I have found an article titled FIX: HTTP
Connection Resets Session ID of an ASP Session Object in
the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 290562. I followed
the resolution step but didn't work. I would like to ask
is this problem fixed as mentioned in the resolution or
the bug still there? I downloaded the analysis services
components installation package, i.e. sql2kasp3.exe from
the latest service pack SP3a and installed it but didn't
work.

Please help. As I have run out of idea of what to do next.

Thanks.

Lucia,

A security change was made in Analysis Services sp3 which resets the session
variable(I won't go into all of the details why). Microsoft Support told me
that the issue would not be fixed and there is no workaround for it. In our
case, we just made sure that Analysis Services was not installed on any of
the user machines. The problem does not appear with users who have Office
XP sp2 installed. However, this problem makes it difficult for development
as many developers have everything installed on the same box.

HTH,
Mark
