Fixed Costs - Equipment

I am trying to figure out how I can reflect equipment costs at a task line
item in addition to standard resource costs. An example would be:

Material: Bitumen
Units: 3
Quantity Type: Cubic metres
Total: xxxx

The quantity type will change depending on the material used. My initial
thoughts are to create a separate costs table filtered on Capex items at a
task level and enter in custom fields for Quantity Type and Total (formula to
calculate). The concern I have is the cost rollup will be lost in summary
reporting. Can someone please help with an approach that might work in this
instance.
