fixing parameters

Hi,

By fixing the task type you can define how Project will react to changes in
Work, Duration, or Assignment Units (which one of the three is modified when
any of the three is changed by the user).

Hi Skeweles,

Task type (fixed units, fixed work, fixed duration) controls which *other*
value project will change in the relationship between work, duration, and
units. One of the basic tenents of MS Project is:
Duration * Units = Work

In a fixed unit task type, if you manually change Duration - project will
adjust work. If you manually change Work - Project will adjust duration.

In a fixed work task type, if you manually change Duration - project will
adjust the resource unit assignment. If you manually change resource units -
project will adjust the duration.

In a fixed duration task type, if you manually change work - project adjusts
resource units, and if you manually change units- project adjusts work.

I suggest splitting from the Gantt chart view (Window >Split) and working in
the task form at the bottom of the screen. Experiment with differing task
types to see what project adjusts.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie
