As I've been refining my use of flags, I've come up with a couple questions
and a couple odd behaviors. (or are these just anomolies in my setup?)
1) Flag definitions seem to depend on the order that they're listed in the
Customize Flags list. I had my Waiting flag set to Ctrl-5, and Project flag
set to Ctrl-6. All is well. Given the physical layout of keys on my
keyboard, I decided to swap these keys so Waiting was Ctrl-6, etc. After
having done this, I went to the Note Flags Summary list and found that all my
Waiting items now appeared under the Project heading (though still with
Waiting icons) & vice versa. I went back to Customize Flags and unswapped
them, then they appeared under the correct headings.
I reproduced it with two dummy lines & two dummy flags.
The only workaround I could find was to set the flags to the keys I wanted,
then go to each flagged item, delete the flag (ctrl-0), and re-add it.
Is this a bug or something weird in my file?
Is there a better way to do this? I've got another, similar change in
order I want to make, but don't want to have to go reflagging everything.
2) In a recent revamp, I found that I need fewer flags than I used to use.
Any way to revert those unneeded flag definitions to Undefined? (of course,
setting the name to "Undefined" doesn't work). It's a nit, but it's
distracting having those extra, unused flags floating in the flag menu.
3) Changing flag definitions (e.g. changing the icon) doesn't update those
flags in the document , so you have to dig around & edit each. Surfing
around this forum, this seems to be by design in the current rev. Is this
something that'll get fixed in the next release?
4) I have 11 flags. I'd really, really love to have a keyboard shortcut for
those last two. Any way to do this?
5) Every time I change a lines flags (e.g. to check off the Done box), the
Note Flags Summary pane resets - i.e. it goes to the top of the list and
un-collapses any categories I've collapsed. Is there a way to keep this from
happening? It happens with & without the Show Unchecked box checked.
6) I have the default clipboard behavior set to Paste Text Only because I
often cut & paste from various sources, and I hate having to reformat them.
When I cut & paste a paragraph with a flag on it from page to another within
OneNote, the flag goes away. Is there some way to get OneNote to not treat
flags as formatting? (Right now I work around this by clicking Keep Source
Formatting, but I don't always remember).
Oops - didn't intend for this to get so long...
Thanks, all!
